Linger in Hugs A Little Longer.

Buy yourself a 100 foot measuring tape and pull it out 78 feet. Now roll in the measuring tape proportionate to your age - if you're 35, roll it in 35 feet. Step back and take a long hard look at the tape that's left. If you're an average person and everything goes without hiccups, that's how much time you have left on this earth.

The time you rolled up inside the measuring tape is gone and the time you have left isn't guaranteed. So, what are you going to do with the time you have right now? Spend it on trivial things? Hug your child? Call your father and tell him you love him? Make up with a friend you haven't spoken to because of a past fight? Help a stranger? Watch the sunset for the first time? Listen to those old mix CD's from the 90's? Start that business?

However you choose to spend the time you have right now, I hope you make it count by lingering in the hugs of life, people, community and God a little longer than normal.

“If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday." - Isaiah 58
